John Rheuark

JOHN "JACK" L. RHEUARK

Age 83, went home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2008 in Overland Park, KS. Interment, Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Heart of America Ex-Prisoners of War, or to the church.

Jack was born April 10, 1925 in Springfield, MO. He served our country in WWII in the Army Air Corps, during which time his plane was brought down and he became a Prisoner of War held near Nuremburg, Germany.Because of injuries sustained during his service, he was the proud recipient of the Purple Heart.

Upon returning from the war, Jack married Jean Harrell on March 17, 1946 in Columbus, KS. They raised their family in the Kansas City area, and he founded the Rheuark Food Brokerage Company in 1965, which is still in operation today.

Survivng family include his wife of 62 years, Jean, of the home, his children Mike Rheuark, Kathy (Larry) Gast, Terri (Terry) Wells, Mary Rheuark, and David (Lisa) Rheuark, grandchildren; Christopher, Megan, Marty, Patrick, Michael, Andy, Anthony, Rebekah, Vincent, Erin, Jack, and one great-grandchild, Niko. Also survived by his brother, Bill Rheuark, and sister -in-laws, Maxine Meyers and Shirley Rheuark, nephew Paul Meyers, and nieces Denise Yearta and Kim Burton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hayden and Goldie Rheuark, and his brother, Bob Rheuark.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and his legacy of courage, strength and generosity will live on through his familly.
