John Michael Pflumm Sr. 67, of Olathe Kansas, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024.  John was born on June 27, 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri to James and Shirley Pflumm. 

Being one of seven kids, he grew up in Shawnee and Gardner, Kansas. His childhood was filled with fishing, riding bikes, learning to plumb, lots of orneriness and of course walking uphill both ways to school. John was a third generation Master plumber who took pride in his work and skilled knowledge. 

John married his ex Peggy (Wendy) Clark in 1979 and together they raised his stepdaughter (Theresa Thoele) and had two children, John (Mike) Pflumm Jr. and Deanna Mae Pflumm Bohnert. John loved his family and raised his children to know they were loved, cared for and could always depend on him. John was always the first to volunteer to coach his kids’ teams and was a great softball coach and sponsor to his daughters. John loved the lake and with his family spent many days on the water boating, fishing, and swimming. 

John loved the Kansas City Chiefs and was beyond excited when they finally won the super bowl again…and then again! 

John was raised Catholic and had a strong love for the faith and was a fourth degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. 

John loved a good movie, the history channel, his beloved dog CallieMae, being with his kids, Christmas morning, and traditional holiday meals. He grew up playing golf and adored the sport. John loved his morning coffee and loved fall days eating chili watching a Chiefs game. He was often called ornery and had a wonderful sense of humor. If he could tell you anything right now, he would say to, “just be groovy.” 

He is preceded in death by his father James Jerome Pflumm (Papas), his mother Shirley Dean Pflumm (Nanas) and his brother James (Butch) Pflumm Jr. (Widowed wife Linda). 

John is survived by his son John (Mike) Pflumm Jr., his daughter Deanna Pflumm-Bohnert (Royce), his stepdaughter Theresa Thoele, his sisters Jamie Pflumm, Dana DeWitte (Daniel, since passed), Paula Pflumm, his brothers Gary Pflumm (Helena) and William (Billy) Pflumm (Debbie). He’s also survived by his grandson Corbin and his granddaughters Myranda (Rowan) and Addey. Plus many other beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
