John Lees

John Clark Lees was born August 7, 1934 in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He died in Olathe, Kansas on November 19, 2018, Loved by all who knew him, Clark was a compassionate, humble man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and Jesus Christ.

Although born in Pennsylvania, his adoptive parents, John and Jane Lees, took him home to Westport, Connecticut where he called home during his formative years. Active in sports and the YMCA, his compassion for the less popular quickly displayed itself as he was known for his willingness to befriend any and all.

Clark's college studies took him to West Virginia Wesleyan where he met the love of his life, Nancy Fasanelli. They spent 63 committed years serving each other. The Korean War called Clark to the Army where he served our country and its belief in personal liberty.

After his army service, he completed post-graduate work at Marshall University and The Ohio State University. He then embarked on a long career in school work as a teacher, a principal, and a superintendent. Although skilled in working with school boards, over-worked, under-paid teachers, and over-zealous parents, he made no secret of the fact that his first love was spending time with the students. His stash of memorabilia is filled with letters from students. A champion of the disadvantaged, his files are also full of letters from representatives and senators responding to his support for legislation that resourced special education.

Clark is survived by his wife Nancy, son Matt of Colorado Springs, Colorado daughter Robin of Leawood, Kansas, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
