John Howard Key, 67, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008 at his home. The family suggests contributions to the John Key Scholarship c/o Bate High School Alumni Association P.O. Box 1696 Danville, Kentucky 40423-0532.
John was born March 29, 1941 to Janie and James Key in Springfield, Kentucky. He accepted Christ at an early age. He was an altar boy in the Catholic church throughout his youth. He was a 1961 graduate of Bate High School in Danville, KY. He received his Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Bellarmine College in Louisville, KY. He married Barbara Hardy December 26, 1964. He was an accountant for International Harvester Company for 20 years and most recently retired from Honeywell in Olathe, KS.
He was a member of Alph Delta Gamma fraternity. He was an accomplished track and field athlete while in high school and college. His hobbies included fishing, metal detecting, and horticulture.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Joseph, Robert, and an infant brother.
He leaves his wife Barbara, children; Allison (John) Anderson, Vincent (April) Key, and Aireka (Obed) Saint-Louis, brothers; James, William, Henry, sister; Martha Warren; and his beloved grandchildren, Miya, Kaelin, Renee, Cameron, Carson, Khol, Kaiya, Laila, and Lauryn.
He gave to so many and asked for nothing in return. He will be sorely missed.
