John Glenn Booth, 72, of Bucyrus, was called to his Savior after a long battle with cancer on Sunday March 10th, 2019. John passed away peacefully at home with his family. He was born on March 11th, 1946 to John and Johnnie (English) Booth in Waycross, GA.
John worked as an Insurance Agent for State Farm in Olathe for 35 years. He served for six years (two years active and four years reserve) in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. John was an active member of Blue Valley Baptist Church and was instrumental in obtaining the establishing charter for the Kiwanis Club of Olathe Sunrise in 1984; where he served as the clubs 1st Vice President. John enjoyed various sports throughout his life, including skiing, tennis, fishing, and sailing. In particular, he was an avid sailor and competitive racer. John was a member of and served on the board of Perry Yacht Club.
John is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; daughters, Jayme (Jonathan) Lock and Lindsey (Tony) Layzell; and grandchildren, Andrew, Abbagail, Jacob and Miles. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14th, from 6-8pm at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions, 14275 South Black Bob Rd, Olathe. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 15th, at 11am at Blue Valley Baptist Church, 8925 W. 151st St, Overland Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Blue Valley Baptist Church, 8925 W. 151st St, Overland Park, or Olathe Health's in-home hospice care, Olathe Health Charitable Foundation, 20375 W. 151st St., Suite 363, Olathe, KS 66061.
