Joan was born on February 16, 1925 to Chester and Ruth Robinson in Wichita, Kansas. She had one brother, John Marvin. She grew up in Wichita where she enjoyed journalism in school, fun at the roller skating rink and spending time with friends.
In 1942, she began dating the love of her life, Jack, who happened to be her brother's best friend. They were married June 12th, 1943 and remained madly in love and best friends for the next 70 years. While Jack was away serving in WWII, she enjoyed volunteering for the Red Cross and the local hospital.
In 1947, they gave birth to their first baby girl, Kimberly, followed by Kelsey in 1951. She and Jack raised their family in Wichita until 1964 when they moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. While in Oklahoma City she spent time volunteering and involved in their daughters many activities.
In 1979, her and Jack moved to Kansas City. Over the next 34 years they remained in Kansas City near her daughter, Kelsey and her family. While Kimberly and her husband, Paul, remained in Oklahoma City. She looked forward to family gatherings. Joan loved hosting family birthdays, their holiday traditions and Winstead's skyscraper sodas. Spending time with family always brought light to her eyes and joy to her life.
Joan was preceded in death by her brother Marvin Robinson. She is survived by her husband Jack; daughters Kimberly Sanders (Paul Sanders) and Kelsey Kessler; granddaughters Shiloh Little (Matthew Little) and Shannon Baker (Justin Baker); great-grandsons Hunter Kessler, Brody Baker, Kylan Baker and Jace Little.
