Jimmy Robinson

Jimmy B. Robinson, 69, passed away at home December 26, 2009.

Jimmy was born in Double Springs, Ala., and raised in Tuscumbia, Ala. He graduated from Deshler High School in 1958 and received his B.S. in business from Auburn University in 1964.

A long-time textile executive, Jimmy worked for Burlington Industries for 25 years, getting the opportunity to travel and live throughout the U.S. and abroad during his career. After leaving Burlington, Jimmy worked for wool manufacturer Forstmann & Co. in Dublin, Ga., for several years. Upon retirement to Asheville, N.C., Jimmy worked as a Realtor for Century 21. In 2007, Jimmy and his wife of 48 years, Rebecca Calvin Robinson, relocated to Overland Park, Kan., to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Jimmy was an avid golfer, fisherman, artist, and gentleman farmer. He was a beloved husband and father who will be deeply missed by his family.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Becky Robinson, of Overland Park, Kan.; daughters Mollie Robinson Eulitt of Olathe, Kan., and Ginger Robinson of Ardmore, Okla.; son Wade Robinson of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister Kathleen Robinson Hall of Florence, Ala.; and four grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at a future date in his much loved Asheville, N.C. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation (brpfoundation.org). Condolences may be left at penwellgabelolathe.com.
