Jimmie Ray Reffett

July 14, 1962 — September 11, 2012

Jimmie was born to Georgia Marie Pence on July 14, 1962. He was raised in love by Grandma and Pappy into his teen years when he met the love of his life and soul mate, Mary Sackett, her parents Dennis and Joan took him under their wings and raised him as their fourth son.
Jimmie met Mary at Mission Bowl while bowling in a summer family league at the age of 15. They connected instantly and fell in love forever. Jimmie was a semi-professional bowler and was very patient to watch Mary "try" to bowl. He has his name in the bowling hall of fame in St. Louis, MO. Jimmie and Mary were married August 18, 1984. They were blessed with Megan on April 15, 1987, Cory on April 2, 1990, and little Kelsey on November 29, 1993. Jimmie was an awesome dad, wanting his children to have all he never had and then some. He endured all of their activities and sports from tumbling to dance to T-ball, football, karate, band, soccer, drill team, cheerleading, tennis, wrestling, golf… He was active as a leader in Boy Scouts Troop 412 and went on many campouts and hot summer camps. He wanted to go on the Girl Scout overnight to the aquarium, but he was not allowed. Jimmie's family meant the world to him and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them.
For many years, his hobby was BBQing with his dear friends. He enjoyed going to competitions, BBQing for fun, and never doing very well, but had great times and special bonds with his "second family".
Jimmie and the family joined Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in 2008 and found another loving family there in the congregation. Their spiritual lives grew profoundly and he knew God was with him.

Even when the hardships and difficulties in life began in 2009 with first losing his job of 26 years at Sprint, financial struggles, and then the attack of his horrible disease, Neuromyelitis Optica, he remained faithful and trusted God. He would say if he didn't have it then someone else would.
Not a day went by that Jimmie didn't make a joke or say something silly to make others laugh. He was selfless that way. On September 11, 2012 in the loving arms of his wife he was called home to the Lord.
