Jimmie R. Lossing, 80, of Olathe, passed away on July 10, 2024, at Olathe Medical Center. He was born on November 29, 1943, to James and Vera (Hall) Lossing in Tucson, AZ.

Jim grew up in Albuquerque, NM, and graduated from Valley High School in 1961. He graduated from Western New Mexico University with a degree in mathematics and then transferred to the University of Arizona to complete a Master’s degree in mathematics.

In 1969, he married L. Louise Van Osdol. They lived in Alamogordo, NM, where Jim worked as a quality assurance analyst for Computing and Software, Inc., at Holloman AFB. In 1970, the couple moved to Tucson, AZ, where Jim worked for the University of Arizona as a systems analyst and computer programmer while completing a Master’s degree in computer science.

In 1974, the couple moved to Olathe, KS, and Jim taught at Johnson County Community College in the Computer Information Systems program until his retirement in 2007. He taught hundreds of students, young and old alike, so they could start their computer-related careers or to get advancement in their current career.

Jim was an avid reader of spy and mystery novels from the Olathe Public Library, where he served on the Library board. When his children were young, he often took them to the library to check out books and to Tuesday Story Hour. He was a wonderful father and grandfather.

Louise Van Osdol of South Fork, CO; two grandchildren, Hannah and Aaron; his brother Dan Lossing of Lincoln NE; his brother-in-law, David Klein: and five nieces, Laurie Dixon, Cheryl Spindler, Deana Klein, Jade Kraft, and Carrie Chavez.
