Jillene "Jill" Paulsen, 54, of Gardner, KS, passed away on June 30, 2020. She is at peace now in the arms of her Savior after fighting metastatic breast cancer since January 2016. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at 1:00pm on Friday, July 3, 2020, at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel.
Jill was born May 26, 1966 in Watertown, MN to Jim Jeske and Joyce Schlehuber (Nelson). Jill graduated from Topeka High School. She married Jim Paulsen in June 2001. Jim easily stepped into the role of step-dad to her two sons Josh and Tyler and later became "Papa" to two granddaughters, Keely 12 and Emma 11.
Jim was the love of her life as were her sons and granddaughters. Jim and Jill went on many exciting trips and explored restaurants around the Kansas City area. Our family gatherings were enjoyed by all with Jim's perfect grilling and Jill's fabulous desserts. There was a special sense of joy when Jill was in the room.
Jill worked for Sprint for 19 years and developed many lasting friendships. She enjoyed giving gifts all year long, clothes and purse shopping, decorating her home and centering her life around her family. She and her mother enjoyed shopping and eating at the "Corner Bakery." Joyce and step-dad, Larry, helped to raise Josh and Tyler and also enjoyed making lasting memories as her sons grew. Jill thought highly of Larry and always remembered him on every special occasion. Jill enjoyed board games with Keely and Emma and delighted in their laughter. She was a great mother and "Nana" to the girls.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Paulsen; sons, Josh (JoEllen) and Tyler (Danielle); granddaughters, Keely and Emma; mother and step-dad, Joyce and Larry Schlehuber; Mike and Debbie Gardner; uncle, Don; aunt, Denise; cousins, Danielle (Ryan), Courtney (Myles), Whitney, Danielle Amey; close friends, Mary, Patti, and Terry; god mother, Sandie Holman; and Auntie.
We are very grateful for the amazing medical professionals at Menorah and Sarah Cannon who took wonderful and compassionate care of our Jill.
