Jill Elizabeth Bechtel, age 65. Resident of Bella Vista, AR. Jill passed on Thursday July 9, 2015 after a 2 year battle against Multiple Myeloma at the Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville, AR. She was surrounded in love at the time of her passing with family and friends at her side.
Jill was born in Waterloo, IA on May the 11th, 1950. Daughter of Harold and Helene Morrison. Jill was a graduate of Shawnee Mission West High School, and attended Fort Hays State for her "Mrs." degree which proved to be a successful major that last 46 years.
On January 25, 1969 Jill married Roger Bechtel in Overland Park, Kansas. Jill lived most her life in Johnson County, Kansas and retired in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Jill held various administrative and operational positions over her career prior to retirement. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority which supports philanthropic and community service events and programs.
She loved to read by oil lamp, cross-stitch, watch and feed hummingbirds, chase her kids/grandkids around at sports games, soccer Mom, baker and master of the kitchen, her "secret" recipes for peanut brittle, pumpkin bread, and stuffing, barber, fishing and camping, motorcycles, yardwork, and dogs (Meg and Bebe). Mom's door was always open to all that entered. She loved to entertain, especially her boy's friends as they grew into adulthood.
Jill is survived by her husband Roger "George" Bechtel, loving husband of 46 years. Her son Troy and his wife Mary. Her son Ty and his wife Misty. Her 5 grandchildren: Tyler, Molly, Ella, Ragan, and Sarah. Her sisters Barbara Metzner and husband Elden, Julie Gwin and her husband John, Jeri Perchinski and her husband Mike, her brother Jeff Morrison and his wife Barbara. She has many extended family members and friends that will miss her dearly.
Services will be held on Wednesday July 15th, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 Blackbob Rd. Olathe, KS 66062. Visitation will be from 2-4pm with Funeral services at 4pm. All friends and family are invited to celebration of Jill's life following the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to either the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and/or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
The family would like to thank all of those who have called, and written posts on the Caring Bridge site over the last week. You have no idea the level of comfort you have provided by your kind words, prayers, and loving memories of Jill. We would also like to thank the staff of Highlands Oncology Group for their care and treatment in her fight against cancer. We would like to thank the staff of Mercy Hospital and Circle of Life hospice for their care and comfort they provided Mom in her last days.
