Jesse was born in Lake Forest, Illinois on August 20, 1982. He is survived by his parents, Dan and JoAnne Rexroth, as well as his brother Phil, sister Bethany, sister-in-law Erin and his nieces Haley, Harper and Finley. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lewis and Virginia Rexroth and William Zell. He graduated summa cum laude from Olivet Nazarene University with a bachelor's degree in business. Jesse was a star athlete in his youth, particularly on the basketball court, and his love for sports continued into his adulthood.
Jesse's love for his family and friends was one of the defining features of his life. He delighted in his nieces and was so proud of their blossoming athletic careers. He had an extensive array of close friends who stuck by his side through thick and thin, and who Jesse appreciated even more than they might have known.
Jesse always had a heart for others, even in the midst of his own difficulties. He sponsored a child in Nepal for many years through Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, and he was a strong proponent of the Wounded Warrior Foundation. Observing any suffering in the world pained him deeply; he longed for a world free of it.
Most importantly, Jesse had an abiding faith in Jesus. After a long journey, he came to salvation on September 25, 2002 while a student at Olivet. His faith was deep and heartfelt, and it carried him through for the rest of his life. He read Scripture often, and committed the entire book of 1 Peter to memory. Even in his struggles, his faith sustained and guided him.
