Jerry Kay Lage, 81, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020. She was born on July 14, 1939 in Kansas City, Kansas to William and Jessie (Scholl) Lewis.
Jerry Kay grew up in Kansas City Kansas and graduated from Wyandotte High School. She spoke fondly of her days at Wyandotte and maintained contact with many of her high school friends. Some of her favorite times were spent planning and attending her high school reunions. She graduated from Wyandotte in 1957. Jerry Kay married George Lage in 1958. The couple moved to Overland Park, KS a few years later where they raised their children until George's death in 1984. They were long time members of Overland Park Lutheran Church where they formed many cherished friendships and where Jerry Kay loved singing in the church choir. Most recently, Jerry Kay was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Olathe.
Jerry Kay worked as a secretary in the construction industry for many years with Hollis and Miller Architects and Engineers, and later with Airport Systems, Inc. She was a member of the National Secretaries Association and served a term as their President. She retired as a contracts administrator from Flour Daniel.
Jerry Kay enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends, as well as bowling, and playing golf in her middle years. In her later years she became a prolific painter of landscapes. Prior to moving to the Good Samaritan of Olathe she spent several joyous years at the Olathe Towers where she made many friends. Although Jerry Kay was an only child, she enjoyed being part of a large extended family whose roots are in Kansas City Kansas. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She will be missed by many.
Jerry Kay is survived by her children, Janie (David) Best and Geoff (Kerri) Lage; grandchildren, Alex (Lesley) Lemos, Janeane (Eric) Thompson, Sam Lage, and great-grandchildren, Iona Thompson and Jessi Mae Lemos.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Jessie Lewis; husband, George Lage; grandson, Andrew Lemos, and granddaughter, Amanda Lemos.
The family will have a private memorial service on December, 22, 2020.
