Jerry Gene Davis passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on October 17, 2018.
Jerry was born September 22, 1960 to Gene and Janese Davis in Quincy, Illinois. His family lived in Kahoka, Missouri for 4 years before moving to Burlington, Iowa. Jerry graduated from Burlington High School in 1979 where he excelled in baseball, basketball, and football. He attended Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri where he studied accounting and played baseball. He became a member of Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Jerry further pursued his education at the University of Missouri Kansas City earning two Master's Degrees in Science and Business Administration.
For 18 years, he worked for Bushnell as the Director of Information Technology. Jerry met Nanette Case in high school and they married on May 21, 1983. They moved to Olathe, Kansas where they raised their two children Taylor and Ashley.
Jerry enjoyed spending time with his children and grandson Lincoln during trips to Dallas and family vacations. He enjoyed traveling to Mexico, the Bahamas, and London. Jerry was happiest when running, working out at the gym, and keeping up with Lincoln. He enjoyed hanging out with friends at Starbucks. He had a deep passion for education, history, and was an avid reader. He will be remembered by family and friends as a kind and loving man, who put others before himself. He was intelligent, a great listener, funny, and was known for having a contagious laugh that could light up a room. He was most importantly a wonderful father, son, brother, and friend. Jerry will truly be missed.
Jerry was preceded in death by Janese Davis his mother. Jerry is survived by his loving children, son, Taylor Davis and his wife Ashley, and his beloved grandson Lincoln (Dallas, TX), daughter, Ashley Hobbs and her husband Trevor, (Prairie Village, KS) and his former wife Nanette Davis (Overland Park, KS). He is also survived by his father, Gene Davis, (Burlington, IA), his brother Gary Davis, and his wife Tammy, (Burlington, IA), brother Larry Davis and wife Caron, (Tulsa OK). Also surviving are former in-laws, Barbara and Jay Kreighbaum, (Sun City, AZ) and former brother in-law Jeff Case and wife Denise (Buckeye, AZ.)
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018, 2:00 pm at the Penwell-Gabel - Olathe Chapel, Olathe, Kansas, with a Celebration of Life to follow the service.
