Jerry Chrisenbery

Jerry Louis Chrisenbery, 71, passed away Saturday July 2, 2011 at his home in Olathe, Kansas.
Born in Sanger, CA on April 1, 1940, Jerry spent his youth in California, Kansas and Missouri. He graduated from Independence Bible School in 1959 where he met his future wife, Doris Anne Henry. Jerry & Doris were married on November 10, 1961. He served in the National Guard from 1961 until 1967, eventually settling near Sarcoxie, MO in 1969.
Jerry & Doris raised their family on a farm at Cave Springs, just outside Sarcoxie, MO, while building a successful business including NAPA Auto Parts Stores in Sarcoxie, Mt. Vernon and Monett, MO. In 1989 they relocated to Monett, MO where they were members of the Monett Church of the Nazarene and involved in numerous community activities.
After selling their business in 1994, they dedicated themselves as volunteers in the nationwide RV ministry called S.O.W.E.R.S. They spent the next 10 years traveling and working at various churches, schools, and campgrounds. In 2003 Jerry & Doris co-founded another RV ministry, R.O.A.M., for the Church of the Nazarene denomination. Due to illness, Jerry would only participate in one project, however he would remain active in the ministry through continued board service.
They relocated to Olathe, KS in 2001 to be near their daughter and grandkids. Jerry was very involved in the lives of his grandchildren; always acknowledging to be their biggest fan. He could be found at every ballgame, school activity, and church programs. He was always a willing servant to family and friends. He spent countless hours in volunteer service at his grandkids school as well as numerous ministry organizations throughout the community. Jerry was a dedicated member and supporter of the church he loved; College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe, KS.
Throughout his life, his passion was restoring old cars. He rebuilt his first car at the age of 14 and continued to enjoy his cars until late in life. Jerry was truly a master mechanic, always willing to help anyone in need with a car problem. One of his last projects was building coaster cars with his grandkids. He spent hours refereeing as they raced down the driveway, only to pull them back up the driveway countless times in his EZ-Go golf cart; which the grandkids affectionately nicknamed E-Go. He was an amazing example to his children and grandchildren; and a servant to all.
Jerry Louis Chrisenbery is preceded in death by parents, Paul and Ina Chrisenbery and his younger brother Bob Chrisenbery. He is survived by his wife Doris Chrisenbery, of Olathe, KS; his son Gene Chrisenbery and wife, Cindy of Park City, UT; his daughter Dianna Smith and husband Gerald of Olathe, KS; and six amazing grandchildren, Sarah & Chris Chrisenbery of Park City, UT, and Gentry, Avery, Grayson and Gerald Smith of Olathe, KS; one brother, Jack Chrisenbery of Broken Arrow, OK, and Gene Armstrong, his cousin, of Lamar, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Jerry Chrisenbery Memorial Fund, College Church of the Nazarene, Olathe, KS. (913-764-4575).
