JEFFREY AFFALTER

Age 60, peacefully left this world to be with his Lord on December 11, 2008, surrounded by his family. A Celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, December 21, at 1:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe, where the family will receive friends following the service. Jeff was born July 13, 1948 in Kansas City MO to Herman "Scaldie" and Fern Affalter. He graduated from Stanley High School in 1966, and while attending State Teachers College at Pittsburg, he enlisted with the U.S. Navy. He married Jan Thompson in August 1982, and together they raised their family in the Olathe area. He was most recently employed with Johnson County Community College.

He is survived by his wife, Jan, his children Kelly Nelson and her husband Dustin, Kenneth John Affalter, Kimberly Ann Affalter, and Keaton Clark Affalter, his grandchildren Emily Olson, Katie Ann Smart and Mason Albert Smart. He is also survived by his sisters Norma Jean (David) Mitchell, Geraldine Hunt, Sandy (Jim) Andrews, and Michelle (Fred) Cohen. Also surviving is his beloved dog, Harley, who nursed his body and soul during his illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother.
