September 18, 1945 — July 23, 2021

Jean Ann Wehrell, 75, of Lenexa, Kansas passed away Friday, July 23, 2021. A celebration of her life will be 11AM Saturday, July 31 at Colonial Presbyterian Church, Overland Park, KS.

Jean was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on September 18, 1945 to William and Roberta Jurgensen (MacLean). She graduated from Ridgewood High School in Ridgewood, NJ and Centenary College for Women (now Centenary University). In 1967, Jean married her high school sweetheart, Michael Wehrell, embarking on a life of travel and adventure as an Air Force wife living across the US in Colorado, Nebraska, Hawaii, Montana, Louisiana, Illinois, as well as internationally in Australia and Germany. Throughout the many transitions, Jean was a devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, shopping, travel, and Bible study in her free time. Being with family was her greatest joy whether sharing a feast, hanging out in and around the pool, or playing a game or puzzle. She also worked as an executive administrative assistant in law and defense.

She was preceded in death by her father, William; mother, Roberta; and granddaughter, Katie Sue Huffines.

Jean was the beloved Wife of Colonel Michael A. Wehrell, USAF, Retired, for 54 years; the dearest Mother of Tiffany (Lanny) Schlemeier; Suzanne (Frank Blacharczyk) Huffines; and Steven (Jackie) Wehrell; the cherished Nana of Elise, Anna, and Kathryn Schlemeier; Whitney (Scylyr) Berkel, Jacob, Josh, and Noah Huffines; Cecelia and Julianna Wehrell; and of great-grandchildren, Mason and Wren Berkel; the adored Sister of Joan (Bernie) Kelly and W.
