She worked as a bookkeeper for Phillips Business Equipment for 10 years and then Capital City High School for sixteen years, where she retired in 2005. She was an avid sports fan, and along with her longtime friend Bill Bevan, loved cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas State Wildcats. Her other passions in life included a love of music, flower gardening, playing cards, and dancing. She enjoyed traveling with friends throughout the United States and Europe.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Bill Lane.
