Jane Zwanzig-Owens ,69, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, November 16, 2016 in Overland Park, Kansas. She is survived by her husband Dewey , her step-daughter Jenny Koonce, her husband Todd, and their daughter Ashleigh, and her step-son Mike, his wife Donna, and their children Ryan and Danielle of Waukesha, Wisconsin. Jane was born in Booneville, Missouri and grew up in Stover, Missouri before moving first to the Kansas City Area and then San Francisco, CA where she lived for a number of years. She ultimately returned to Kansas City, to marry her husband Dewey, and she proceeded to build a happy life working at Sprint and then later at The Kansas City School District until she retired in 2013. She was well known for her generous spirit and her engagement with socially progressive causes advancing equality and women's rights. She was also famous for her love of cats and had many loyal feline companions over the years. She was an avid quilter and fiber artist, and a voracious reader. She enjoyed seeing and eating her way around the world on numerous trips abroad, often leaving for months at a time. Arrangements are being made for a private celebration of her life.
