Jane "Jay" Ellen Bowser Gowen of Olathe, KS passed away surrounded by her family January 28, 2022. She was born January 22, 1951 to Betty Jane and William Ober Bowser in Coffeyville, KS.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Billy Joe "BJ" Gowen, her two daughters, Amy Oglesbee and Katie Wulff as well as her son-in-laws Tim Oglesbee and Brian Wulff. She is "Gigi" to her grandchildren Vaughn Wulff, Ellis Oglesbee and Greta Wulff. Jay is survived by brothers Tom and Dale Bowser and her sister Barbara Howard.
Jay graduated from Coffeyville Community Junior College in 1971, Kansas State Teachers College in 1973 with a BSE and Emporia State in 1981 with an MSE. Jay taught in McLouth in 1973, then Leavenworth School District from 1976 – 2010, as well as the University of St. Mary for 3 years for a total of 40 years teaching.
She enjoyed being active at the Olathe Community Center, traveling and most of all, spending time with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to First Christian Church, Olathe.
Her Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
