James A. Treece passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023, at the age of 86 in Olathe, Kansas. He was born on August 20, 1936, in Trenton, Tennessee, to his loving parents Elmer and Mildred (Milligan) Treece.

James was a devoted father and husband, survived by his children, daughter Cheryl Breezeel (Phillip) of Maumelle AR, sons Tony Treece (Linda) of Lenexa KS and Steve Treece (Denise) of Olathe KS, and brother Joe Max Treece of Arizona. He was also survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was a source of love, guidance, and support for his family, and his memory will forever live on in their hearts. He was proceeded in death by parents, wife and brother Bobby Treece of Tennessee.

James spent his professional career as a dedicated federal employee with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He served the nation diligently and retired after years of dedicated service. His commitment and hard work left a lasting impact on those he worked with and the community he served.

James was a faithful member of the 151st Street Church of Christ in Olathe, KS. His devotion to his faith and involvement in the church community brought him immense joy and a sense of purpose. He actively participated in church activities and offered his time and support whenever needed.

James married Phyllis (Bundy) Treece on August 23, 1956, they were together for 60 years until Phyllis' passing in March 2017. James and Phyllis shared a beautiful journey of love and companionship. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them, and their marriage stood as a testament to lasting commitment and unwavering devotion.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel. A memorial service honoring James' life will follow at 4:00 p.m. during which family and friends will gather to remember and celebrate his remarkable life.

James A. Treece will forever be remembered as a loving husband, a father, a dedicated public servant and a man of unwavering faith. His kindness, generosity, and warm smile touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
