James Thomasson, 85, passed away on January 31st, 2025, in Olathe, Kansas at the Olathe Hospice House.
Son of Lloyd and Ruth Thomasson, he was born January 13th, 1940, in Selma, Kansas. He grew up in Garnett, Kansas where he met his “high school bride” Karen Mae Thomasson. They went on to have 6 children. James was active in Olathe Baseball, coaching his kids and was also President of Olathe Baseball for years. He coached many kids and umpires in his years and loved the game.
James’ career was an important part of his life. He was VP of Sales with CII, Inc. in Leavenworth, Kansas. James made significant contributions to his field, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike. His professional journey was marked by integrity and dedication, qualities he carried into his personal life. He retired at age 75 to spend more time with his wife Karen and his grandchildren. Family was the most important to him. His grandchildren were his world, he enjoyed spending time at sporting events, school programs and just having them to his house to enjoy his pool.
James, is survived by his wife of 65 years Karen Thomasson, his son Steven Thomasson (Vella), daughter Rebecca Leseberg (Jay), daughter Tricia May (John), son in law Gerald Neitenbach, 7 grandchildren, Amanda Thomasson, Matthew Leseberg, Nicholas Leseberg, Jacob Leseberg, Noah Leseberg, Maggey May, Caleb Neitenbach, Lily Leseberg, Layla Leseberg and 2 great grandchildren.
James is preceded in death by his mother Ruth, father Lloyd, brother Dale Thomasson, son Kevin Thomasson, son Michael Thomasson and daughter Suzanne Neitenbach.
A visitation will be held on February 4th, 2025, from 10am-11am at Penwell-Gabel funeral home located at 14275 S. Blackbob Rd Olathe, Ks 66062. Following the visitation a funeral service will take place from 11:00am-12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial in Olathe, Ks.
James L. Thomasson will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him. His legacy will continue through the hearts of his family and friends, who will carry forward the lessons of love, dedication and resilience that he imparted.
