James F. Schuckenbrock

After a brief, yet inspirationally fought battle with cancer, James Francis Schuckenbrock, took his last breath surrounded by family on October 6, 2018 at the age of 65.
Jim was born February 19, 1953 in Hannibal, MO to the late R.J. and Mildred Schuckenbrock, graduated from Southwest High School in Ludlow, MO ('71) and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education at Missouri Western University ('76).
He cherished the experiences and friendships gained at Missouri Western – on and off the basketball court – and felt honored to be a part a much respected team and coaching staff achieving team induction into the Missouri Western Hall of Fame in 2009.
These life experiences led into a successful career with Lipton, Adria Labs, and Pharmacia & Upjohn Pharmaceuticals (oncology). With his heart centered on teamwork and helping others on the 'court of life,' he was recognized with various Regional/National leadership and sales awards.
Jim's remaining years were spent as a volunteer and then as an employee at Our Lady of Mercy Country Home in Liberty, MO where he quickly gained a sincere appreciation and respect for administrative staff, fellow employees and especially the residents.
He had a sincere passion to make a positive difference in the lives of everyone he met. His whimsical humor with a touch of satire consistently brought smiles, respect, and a will to excel in life. In Jim's word's, "it's not what we get from the world or others, but rather what we learn from others, give of ourselves to others and the values we share to build family, team and true friendships that makes life worthwhile."
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, R.J. and Mildred; brother, Larry; and is survived by five siblings. His, smile, humor, never-ending heart, and memories shared will be immensely missed and cherished forever by many family members and friends.
The memorial service on Saturday, November 10th, will begin with mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Country Home in Liberty, MO and will conclude at Resurrection Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital Foundation or Our Lady of Mercy Country Home.
