James Sanford

James Leroy Sanford, 81, of Olathe, KS passed away peacefully Friday October 5, 2012 at home.
Jim was born January 22, 1931 in Kansas City, KS to Leroi and Blanche Sanford. He was a graduate of Shawnee Mission Rural High School, and was president of the FFA and served in the US Coast Guards. He married Iris Phipps on December 22, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was also an Elder of the RLDS Church and was President of the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. He retired from Panhandle Eastern Pipeline and went on to own residential rental properties and an exotic petting zoo.
He leaves behind his daughters, Andrea Ludwikowski and husband John of Olathe, KS. Sharyl Donahue and husband Mike of Olathe, KS. Anita Larson and husband Cliff of Littleton, CO. Jamie Garza and husband Joe of Louisburg, KS. Foster sons, David Nichols and wife Kathy of Austin, TX. Svai Sanford and wife Ellen of Redwood City, CA. Ed Cunningham and wife Jamie of Olathe, KS. 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice House of Olathe Medical Center.
