James W. "Jim" Morgan, 88, of Olathe, KS died on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Brookdale College Square in Overland Park, KS.

Jim was born on June 1, 1929 in Pittsburg, KS to Walker and Anna of Pittsburg Kansas. While attending Pittsburg High School, Jim worked at Hull & Dillon packing company. He met the love of his life, Mary E. Wells in Pittsburg, KS. They were married August 5th, 1950 at the Nazarene Church in Pittsburg Kansas and would have celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary this year.

Jim was drafted into the Army in 1951 and served overseas in Italy for most of his tenure while Mary, his new bride, remained in Kansas City, KS.

Upon returning from military service, Jim relocated to Shawnee Kansas and began 20 years of employment with Ranch Hand Foods in their beef boning operation. During his tenure with Ranch Hand, Jim also took on a full time position with Bendix company a military contractor. For the next 16 years he maintained two full-time jobs.

Capitalizing on his outstanding work ethic and the expertise he had acquired in the beef processing industry . . . in 1972 Jim partnered with Jack Wylie to purchase Midwest Boneless Meats of Kansas City Mo. In 1976, he expanded the business and built a new facility in Kansas City, KS. He was the owner operator of Midwest Boneless Meats for 10 years.

Jim was a superb athlete as a young man, enjoying boxing, baseball and softball. Throughout his life he was also an avid fisherman. He enjoyed fishing locally as well as annual excursions with close friends. In addition to fishing, Jim loved boating and spending time with his kids, grandkids and family in general. The highlight of his year for the past several decades was gathering with family and close friends on Table Rock lake for a week of food, fishing, fun, and fellowship.

Jim was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy at 21st & Ridge Kansas City Kansas for his entire adult life. He served in many leadership positions over the past 60 years including Sunday School superintendent.


Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Morgan, his daughter Janis (Shawn) , and 2 sons Joe (Vickie) , and David (Cari) as well as 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Kenneth and Don and 2 sisters Ruby and Dorothy
