James Jaudon Maxwell

November 13, 1946 — July 2, 2019

James Jaudon Maxwell, 72, of Olathe, passed away on July 2, 2019. He was born on November 13, 1946 to James William and Mabel (Scrivner) Maxwell in Kansas City, MO.


Jim Maxwell grew up in the Kansas City area where he attended St. Catherine Catholic Grade School and graduated from Bishop Hogan High School. As a boy he was a 3 sport athlete playing football, basketball, and baseball. While in his high school years, he was discovered by a California Angel scout when his summer baseball team played a game against a semipro team and Jim pitched a no hitter. Due to surgery on his throwing arm, he did not move forward with the Angels organization.

He joined the Air Force after high school and flew combat missions in Vietnam. He was stationed in Fulda, Germany where he met his wife Irene Schilling.

Jim took residence in Olathe, Kansas and started his 12 year career with the FAA. After the strike he took on many jobs to provide for his family and eventually got rehired with the government at the USDA where he retired at 55. While in Olathe, he made numerous friends and touched many lives through his successful coaching career with OYBA and CYO.


Jim is survived by his loving wife, Irene Maxwell; children, Pete (Beth) Maxwell, Patty (Matt) Braswell, James (Monique) Maxwell, Christy (Matt) Walt, and Rusty Maxwell; ten grandchildren Travis Maxwell, Riley and Brady Braswell, Jimmy, Maggie, Gabe, Genna and Bailey Maxwell, Haley Seute and Grace Walt.


He was preceded in death by his father James William and mother Mabel Irene; Sisters Pat Fayard and Mary Keeney.


The family will receive guests for a visitation from 10:00-11:00am on Monday, July 8, 2019, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 21650 W 115th Terrace, Olathe, KS 66061, Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am. Burial will be at 1:30pm in Mt Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64138.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Wounded Warrior Project (link:support.woundedwarriorproject.org/Donate) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (link:www.stjude.org)
