James Lee Montgomery Sr passed away on 2/9/2025 at the age of 82. He was a resident of Gardner, KS. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to so many. He has passed away due to complications with pneumonia. He was born July 1st, 1942, in Tchula, Mississippi.
Preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Lucille Montgomery from Tchula, Mississippi.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years of marriage Lynder Montgomery (Johnson) and five children: Shannon Rouse (Frank), Felecia, Damon, Jamie (Micheal Baldwin), and James II. He was also survived by his siblings Sallie Mae Price (James), Harvey, Dora, Lucille, Lilly Ross (George) Lent Sr (deceased), and Johnny. He also has many grand, great grand, great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, and nephews.
James has spent most of his years in Syracuse, New York working as a painter in the enamel department at Cooper Industries (Crouse-Hinds). He has spent 46 years in that employment field. He was a long-time member of the Local 43 1249 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Syracuse, New York.
James was a man of many talents and skills. He was mostly known for being a wonderful father not only to his children but to friends of the family
as well. He went above and beyond the call for his entire family. He was the umbrella to shield them from the rain. He was the sword and shield to protect them. Most importantly he was the rock of many foundations and the example of what a man is to be. He will be missed and remembered.
