James Leary

March 23, 1951 — November 26, 2014

James Michael Leary, 63, died Wednesday, November 26th in Houston, TX after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born in Kansas City, MO, the son of Mary Jo Leary and the late Thomas Conway Leary. He grew up in Prairie Village and Mission Hills, KS. Jim was a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village and the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS. He married his college sweetheart Nancy Keyes Desobry and eventually settled in Sugar Land, TX where he served as a Vice President of Highlands Insurance Company. Jim was a devoted father to his two sons, William Conway "Bill" Leary and Geoffrey Thomas "Geoff" Leary and delighted in their accomplishments. He rarely missed a baseball game that either son was playing in from grade school years through college.
Jim is survived by his mother, Mary Jo Leary, Leawood, KS; former wife, Nancy Keyes Desobry Leary, Sugar Land, TX; his son, William Conway Leary, Houston, TX; his son, Geoffrey Thomas Leary, Houston, TX; his brother, Thomas Charles Leary, Overland Park, KS; his brother, John Robert Leary and his wife Suzy, Olathe, KS; his sister, Marianne Elizabeth Leary and her husband Richard D. Calvert, Leawood, KS and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services.
