James Robert Blackshire, 83, of Olathe, passed away at home on April 23, 2024.
He was born on May 31, 1940 to Don and Metta (Harris) Blackshire at Mountain Grove, MO.
On February 13, 1960, he married Julia (DeFeo) and they made their home in Olathe, KS.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, and enjoyed volunteering at Olathe Medical Center and long walks in the park.
James is survived by his brother Ben (Katie) Blackshire, brother-in-law Frank (Gina) DeFeo, nephews Michael Blackshire, John Blackshire, Tony (Amy) DeFeo, and Nick DeFeo, his nieces Jennifer (John) Hense, Elizabeth Blackshire, Christina Blackshire, Debbie DeMar, Marty DeMar, and Becki (Heather) Kennedy.
He is also survived by his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jake, Nicholas, Aidan, Bennett, Christian, Elijah, Mariella, and Gia Hense, Jonathan Herrera, Walker Matteson, Levi Matteson, Dominic DeFeo, A.J. DeFeo, Stella DeFeo, Kristan (Will) Bailey and Karen Steele, and great-great niece and great-great-nephew, Ava and Anthony Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia, and daughter, Annette.
