James Earl Davis, 81, of Garnett, Kansas passed away May 21, 2019.
He was born February 7, 1938 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, the son of James and Veda (Packard) Davis. He later moved to Fort Scott, KS.
On October 22, 1958, he married Reba Louise Hoke.
James was proud of being a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. He served in the United States Air Force for 6 years. James was a devout Bible historian and also loved to debate politics.
He was most recently a member of the First Baptist Church in Garnett, KS. He lived in Olathe, KS for 44 years – raising 7 children in the community while attending College Church of the Nazarene.
James is survived by his four sons and three daughters: James Matthew Davis of Houston, TX; David Mark Davis of Columbus, OH; John Daniel Davis of Chattanooga, TN; Timothy Milton Davis of Olathe, KS; Teresa Lynn Williams of Leesburg, FL; Constance Ann Smith of Olathe, KS; and, Catherine Joyce Canonico of Toronto, Canada. He is survived by one brother, Walter Davis (Linda) of Lawrenceville, GA.
James had eleven grandchildren, two great granddaughters and one great grandson.
James was preceded in death by his father, James Davis; mother, Veda Davis; and, his wife, Reba Louise Davis.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe, KS.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Rescue Mission in James' name.
