JAMES "JIM" RICHARD COX
Age 71, passed away February 5, 2009 in Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe, followed by a Celebration of his Life on Tuesday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m., also in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment, Gardner Cemetery. Jim was born May 19, 1937 in Kansas City, MO to Norman and Beverly Cox. He was married to Anna Ramey on May 25, 1957 in Dodge City, KS. He served in the U.S. Army, and then began his career in law enforcement, serving in Dodge City, KS, Blackwell, OK, and Bucklin, KS. Jim and Anna moved their family to Olathe in 1970. He retired from Johnson County Emergency Management in 2000.
He was an avid golfer, an artist, and fisherman. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Anna, his daughters Katrina Hubbard, Shelly Amer and husband, Mike, and son Tony Cox and wife, Heather, grandchildren; Jocelyn Buxton and husband Travis, Ashley Hibbs and husband, Donovan, Scott Amer, Bradley Amer, Miles Hubbard, Elijah Hubbard, Isaiah Cox, and Aaron and Alex Hildebrand. Also survived by his great-granddaughters; Ramey, Rylan, and Gracie Buxton, and Bryanna Amer, his sister, Deborah Cox, brother Cody Cox, and his step-mother, Linda Cox.
