1950-2011
Age 61, of Olathe, KS passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011 in Olathe, KS. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S Blackbob Rd, Olathe, KS, followed by funeral services on Monday, October 3 at 10:00 am, also in the funeral home. Interment, Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials are suggested to the new Hospice House of Olathe Medical Center or to Greater KC Arthritis Foundation.
Jim was born September 11, 1950 in Whittier, CA to Wilson and Melba Burrus. He moved to the Kansas City area in 1980, and was the owner and operator of Salon Avanti in Olathe, Kansas. He was a past member of the Heartland Men's Chorus, and enjoyed the theatre, music, and the fine arts.
Jim was a mentor to many throughout his lifetime, and will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
