James Bell

James "Jim" Harold Bell, 54, Olathe, peacefully passed away July 21, 2017, at his home. He was born July 26, 1962, in Arcadia, CA, before moving to Olathe, KS in 1976. He was a 1980 graduate of Olathe High School, lettering in basketball. He attended MidAmerica Nazarene University, playing basketball there as well. Jim spent most of his years building residential homes, with his dad and brother, as well as independently. He started Jim Bell Builder, Inc. in the 1990s. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to fish, hunt, camp, boat and ski. He is survived by his wife, Joan Bell, of the home, and her children, Ellen and Emma Minnick, Denver, CO, and Eddie Minnick, Manhattan, KS; his parents, Donald H. and Faith N. Bell; a brother, Don and wife, Pam Bell, Jr.; a sister, Deanna Bell; a brother; Frank and wife, Julianne Bell; all from Olathe. Jim is also survived by many extended family members, represented in many states. He was preceded in death by his sister, Judith Faith Hooven, Olathe, KS. The family will receive guests for a visitation from 2:00-3:00pm on Friday, July 28, 2017, at Olathe College Church of the Nazarene. The memorial service will follow at 3:00pm.
