Jacqueline B. Dawkins of Overland Park, KS, passed away on February 14, 2008. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Harvesters Community Food Network, 3801 Topping Ave, Kansas City, MO 64129.
She was born on August 27, 1930, in Ogden, Iowa. Her parents were Robert and Irene Buckley. Jacqueline grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High in 1948. She married John Dawkins on her birthday in 1951. They celebrated over 56 years of life together.
Jacqueline and John moved to the Kansas City area with their four children in 1966. She studied mathematics and French at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Jacqueline gave her time generously to KCPT, the Junior League, PTA, Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls. She especially enjoyed accompanying John on many camping and canoeing trips as a leader of Explorer Post 2392.
Jacqueline is survived by her husband, John; her children and their spouses: John and Darlene Dawkins, Derby, KS, Katherine and Paul Toll, Overland Park, KS, Anne and Dan Barbour, Overland Park, KS, Steve and Suzanne Dawkins, Roeland Park, KS; her grandchildren: David Barbour, Jessica Toll, Patrick Stallbaumer, Jeremy Dawkins, Vanessa Toll, Justin and Laurie Dawkins, Olivia Dawkins, India Dawkins; her great-grandchildren: Hayden Dawkins, James Rosenzweig, and Alyssa Dawkins; her siblings: Beverly and Nick Ordon, Falcon, CO, and Max and Lana Buckley, Dayton, IA, Paul and Karen Buckley, Richardson, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Irene Buckley; brothers Robert (Bobby) Buckley, Ron Buckley, and Thomas (Tuck) Buckley; and a sister Constance (Connie) McGillis.
