Jacqualine "Jackie" Jo Anderson Fink, 87, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on November 8, 2021. Born in Osage City, Kansas on November 18, 1933, Jackie was the daughter of the late Jack and Verna (Swanson) Anderson. Her Swedish grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins filled her childhood days with wonderful memories. After graduating from Osage City High School in 1951, Jackie received a scholarship to KU in Vocal Performance. From KU she transferred to Washburn University to be closer to her beloved Paul. There she pledged Kappa Alpha Theta, got engaged, and that was the beginning of their love story. Paul and Jackie were married July 12, 1953, celebrating 55 years of marriage before Paul died in 2009. They raised their 3 children (Susan, Sara, and John) in Topeka.
Jackie loved being involved in her community. She shared her gift of singing in her church, community choirs, as well as being a soloist for many occasions. Jackie sang in the Topeka Chamber Choir under the direction of Elbert Fly, the Topeka Symphony Chorus, and Shawnee Choral Society. Her list of volunteer services include being President of the following organizations: Junior League, PEO Chapter FI, Topeka Community Concert Association, and of Minerva Music and Literature Club. Jackie also was a member of the Mulvane Women's Board. She was involved in many wonderful Bible Studies through the Women's Ministry at Topeka Bible Church.
Jackie's working years were spent in education in being a Division Secretary at Topeka West High School, Office Secretary at Eisenhower Junior High and several elementary schools.
Jackie's love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren was a significant part of her life. Spending time with them gave her the greatest joy. Jackie loved making a home for her family and relished her time with them on any occasion. When asked most recently what she could have if she could have anything - she said, "To be with all of you." She never lost the joy, or longing, of being with her loved ones. Jackie's strong faith carried her throughout her life. Her example of trusting in Jesus through all times is her legacy.
Although the past few years were challenging for her, she found purpose in all things. Her resiliency came through and she embraced her life the best way she knew how. Her longing to "go home" is now complete.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Mike) Bradley, Sara (Bill) Houston, and son, John (Stefani) Fink, her brother, Charles (Sherril) Anderson of Ft. Worth, Tx., 6 grandchildren (Paul, Anne, John, Laura, Catherine, and John David) and 3 great grandchildren (Jack, Wilder, and Soren), 4 nephews (Jeff, Chris, Danny, and Steven). She loved them all dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Foundation of America Alzheimer's Association.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Topeka Bible Church, 1101 SW Mulvane St, Topeka, KS 66604. The burial at Mount Hope Cemetery will be private.
