Jack Messer

Jack R. Messer, 74, of Olathe passed away on May 13, 2021. He was born on February 21,
1947 to Carl and Marjorie (Kramer) Messer in Kansas City, Missouri and was a lifelong Olathe
resident.

Jack graduated from Olathe High School in 1965. He married Lynda Enright in 1965 and had 3
children; Melissa, Melynda and Carl. He then married Roni Cheever in 1976 and had a
daughter, Megan. Later he spent many fun filled years with his sweetheart, Jo.
Jack worked as a carpenter and other jobs until 1976 when he went to cosmetology school and
worked as a security guard at night. He began cutting hair in 1977 until a few months before he
passed. He owned a salon and a couple barber shops, one being Jack's Old Fashioned BS in
Gardner.

Jack also loved boxing and was part of a management team (Contenders Unlimited). Riding his
Harley and driving his classic cars were his passion.

He was a member of the Fraternal order of the Eagles #700 Olathe, KS. He held a number of
offices throughout the years, one being the Conductor on the original team. Jack was also a
member of an AA group in Olathe and sponsored many people throughout the years.
Jack is survived by his loving children Melissa (Al), Melynda, Carl, Megan and step-son, Brent
Layton. He is also survived by his grandchildren Bret, Conner, Cole, Catherine, Cooper, Claire, Avery, Audrey, and Carter, as well as his sister, Barbara and brother, Mike.

The family will receive guests for visitation on Sunday, May 23, 2021 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at
Penwell-Gabel Olathe Chapel with the Memorial service following at 2:30 p.m. A Celebration
of Life will follow the Memorial service at the American Legion, 410 E. Dennis Ave., Olathe, KS
66061.
