Jack Campbell, 79 years of age, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, at St. Luke's South Hospital after a long illness.
Jack was born on August 24, 1945, in Stanley, Kansas to the late Charlie and Alma Campbell. He was the younger of two children. Jack’s given name was Walter Ira Campbell, but his grandmother did not like the name. She called him “Jack” instead and the nickname stuck.
Jack was educated at Pittsburgh State University in Pittsburgh, Kansas and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After graduating college, he went to work for General Motors as a line manager. He later took a position in security with Truman Medical Center where he worked for over 30 years. Jack loved helping people and this position allowed him to give back to the community.
Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved KU basketball, planting trees, and working in his yard. He was adored by his family and was loved by all because he was kind to everyone he met.
Jack was a spiritual man and attended the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
Jack is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Beverly Campbell; children, Shelly Campbell and Shawn (Roxanne) Campbell; grandchildren, Jessica (Ricky) Freeman, Jack Campbell and Hannah Campbell; great grandchild, Ariana Freeman; brother, Bill (Penny) Campbell; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Penwell-Gabel's Olathe Chapel.
