Irvin Jones, 98, of Leawood, Kansas ( formerly of Junction City, Kansas) passed away on December 20, 2024 at Sunrise of Leawood.
He was born on June 12, 1926 to Jasper and Ruby (Golden) Jones at Moultrie, GA.
Irvin served our country in the US Army for 25 years, and then went on to serve another 20 in civil service.
Irvin worked as a Budget Officer for the US Government until the time of his retirement in 1980.
In 1964, he married Maggie Thompson, and they made their home in Junction City, KS.
He was a member of the V.F.W, Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis, Red Cross, Masons, and and he enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Irvin is survived by his children, Janice Smith ( Wichita, KS), Melinda Jones( Raytown, MO), Annette Jones (Forest Park, IL), grandchildren, Phillip Malone (Daralyn), Brianna Adeosun, Ebony Smith, Danielle McNeely (Brandon), Sara Jones, Samuel Jones, great-grandchildren Braydon, Brielle, Zamora, Mikel, Michael, Victoria & Alyona, and sister Alice Pearkins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie, and his parents.
Burial was held in Leavenworth National Cemetery on January 27, 2025..
