Hugh James "Jim" Goudelock
Jim Goudelock, 84, died April 4, at his home at Cedar Lake Village in Olathe. A memorial service will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 15315 West 151st Street, Olathe, on Saturday, April 8 at 2 p.m. Friends may visit with family following the service. Interment, Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery. Jim was born in Kansas City, MO, on Sept. 7, 1921, and grew up in Kansas City. He joined the US Air Force in 1941, and became a fighter pilot with the 55th Fighter Group of the 8th Air Force. He flew a P-38, escorting bombers over occupied Europe and Germany. He returned home in October 1945. He worked with the Atomic Energy Commission at both Westinghouse and Bendix. He owned and operated the Mobil service station at 95th and I35 until he retired in 1983. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sybil (Malott) Goudelock of the home; his two sons, James Philip (Linda) of Baton Rouge, LA, and John David (Kathy) of Olathe, KS; and four grandchildren, Joel David Goudelock, Christine Lynn Kennedy, William Seth Goudelock and Sonsearae Stanley. He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Jane Blythe of White City, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Overland Park Host Lions Club Endowment Fund, 8827 Newton Dr., Overland Park, KS 66212; and would like to thank the Olathe Hospice for their kind and loving care during Jim's final illness.
