Herbert Dell Shores

Herbert Dell Shores, 83, of Olathe, passed away on September 23, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. 

He was born on September 18, 1941 to Fred and Viola (Yankey) Shores at Olympia, WA, and was raised in Elgin, NE.

On November 12, 1962, he married the love of his life Sharon Frances (Zegers), and they made their home in Elgin, NE. Herb’s careers took them to many places but they finally settled in Olathe, KS to raise their 3 beautiful daughters.

Herb was employed with Continental Siding for 20 years, until his retirement in 2020.

He was a member of the US Army Reserves and he enjoyed golfing, playing cards, trips to the lake, drinking wine & smoking cigars, singing silly songs to his grandkids and spending time with his wonderful wife Sharon, his daughters and grandchildren. On any given Saturday Herb would be known to have a tea party with granddaughters followed by blowing up power rangers in the back yard with his grandsons.

Herbert is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, daughters, Sheila (Alan) Marstall, Susan (Jeff) Scherzer, and Shelly Shores, grandchildren Mindi, Mandi, Michael, Austin (Katie), Palmer Bo & Brooke, his brother, Frank Shores and many wonderful nieces and nephews he dearly loved. 

He was preceded in death by his Mother Viola, Father Fred, Brothers Fred & Harold.

Herb will be terribly missed. His fun-loving spirit and ability to make everything magical was a tremendous gift to all who knew and loved him.
