HERBERT ESTA HALL
Age 79, passed away at home in Olathe, Kansas on August 30, 2006. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 1, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Central Church of the Nazarene, 12600 W. 87th St., Lenexa, KS. Interment, Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe. The family suggests memorials to the Men's Ministries at Central Church of the Nazarene.
Herbert was born on September 23, 1926 in Dayton, Ohio to Cora and Jesse Hall. He served our country in the Philippines as a member of the U.S. Army from 1945-1946. In 1952, he married Miriam Jean VanZant. They attended Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, IL where he received a BA in Biblical Literature. He then went on to obtain his Masters degree in Education from Denver University.
Throughout his career, Herbert worked as an elementary school teacher in Colorado and in Kansas City, KS. He also enjoyed carpentry, cabinet making and was a skilled craftsman and builder. He was a member of the Nazarene church for over 50 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy (David) Story of Olathe, KS, five grandchildren: Zach, Nic, Anthony, Michael, and Abby. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy (Jack) Preston, and his brother, James Hall.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Miriam, in January of 2006, his sisters Helen Taukersley, Ruth Noble and Lois Brown, and his brothers Clarence Hall, Paul "Pete" Hall, David Hall, and Dennis Hall.
