Helen Embery, age 70, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 in Overland Park, Kansas. There will be a celebration of life party on Friday, April 6th at Saint Pius X Parish Hall (5500 Woodson, Mission, Kansas) starting at 7 PM.
Helen was born in Bakersfield, California to Arthur and Bette Garden on December 9, 1947. She moved to Sterling, Kansas at age 4 and attended Sterling College for two years, going on to finish her degree from Emporia State where she met Nick Embery. They were married in 1972 and had two beautiful children Amy and Andrew. Helen spent her life as a wonderful mother and wife, amateur golfer, semi-professional PTA officer and den mother. She made her life revolve around her family and tried not to miss a thing.
Never one to slow down; after the children flew the coop, she devoted herself to music and the courts. She says goodbye to the St. Pius "Theater Under the Pews" crew, a fun-loving group of merry music makers she joined that eventually morphed into a side business of playing weddings and lunches with her sidekick John. Not one to indulge in a life of leisure, she also found a home with her coworkers from the courthouse. Her stories from their time spent defending justice and making the world safe for humanity; all the while laughing and joking, will live on.
Helen was a true believer in the goodness of mankind and was always willing to help anyone in need. Her long-term friendships were very important to her and she cherished them all, especially with Alan. She is survived by her sisters Beth and Judy, her daughter Amy, her son Andrew and his wife Devon, and of course, Emily.
We love and miss you so much. You will be in our hearts every day. Thank you so much for raising us to love, share and care for others.
