H.E. "DAN" BUNCH, age 71, passed away January 7, 2012 in Kansas City, MO. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S Blackbob, Olathe, KS, where the family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Leukemia Society of Greater Kansas City Area.
Dan was born January 14, 1940 to Virgil and Bertha Bunch of Ogallala, NE. Dan was married to Vonnel Peterson on June 18, 1962 in the Military Chapel in Ft. Belvoir, VA. He served our country in the U.S. Army with the Military Police in Italy. Upon returning, he attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and graduated with his degree in Criminology.
Dan and Vonnel moved to Des Plaines, IL in 1966 where he began working for Wackenhut Security. He was then transferred to the Kansas City, MO area in 1968, where they continued to raise their family. In the fall of 1970, Dan began his own business, Danguard, Inc. In the early 1990's, Dan sold his business to Wells Fargo, and began a new venture with Odorite International, serving clients worldwide.
Surviving are his wife, Vonnel, his daughters Brenda Bunch, Shelley Lake, his son Brian McCormick, and his grandson, Jared Daniel Henchek. He is also survived by his brother, Fred Bunch, and sister Eloise Schmidt, several nieces and nephews, his cousin, Ralph Johnson, and his dear friend, Anna.
