Hazel Hall, 96, resident of Olathe, Kansas 69 years, passed away at her home on Thursday, May 22, 2008 surrounded by her loving family.

Hazel Brown was born in Perry, KS to the late Elmer and Ethadelle Brown on July 22, 1911. She graduated from Perry High School and received an Associates Degree in teaching at Baker University in 1932. She was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She was a teacher in a one room school house in Oskaloosa, KS where she met her husband of 73 years, Charles Thomas Hall. They were married on May 4, 1935 in Perry, KS and resided in Oskaloosa until their move to Olathe in 1939.

Hazel was very active in the Olathe community serving on various boards including the Olathe Library and the Salvation Army. Her devotion to teaching continued as she worked as a substitute teacher in the Olathe School District and school librarian at Westview Elementary. She was a long time member of the PEO sisterhood. Her volunteer work for community continued throughout her lifetime. She was a Sunday School teacher for 18 years, United Methodist Women's circle member, and constant church volunteer. She worked in the hospital gift shop for many years and participated in several hospital activities as a volunteer. She remained faithful to the schools, her church, the library, Old Settlers, and the Mahaffie House all of her life. She loved playing bridge with her friends and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Her faith sustained her though her illness as she was a life long member of First United Methodist Church.

Hazel is survived by her husband, C. Tom Hall, her daughter; Joan Roda and son-in-law, Dan Roda of Colorado Springs, her granddaughters, Korrie Roda and fiancée, Marin Thibault, Kristen Genson and her husband, Andy, her sisters, Mary Courter, of Houston, TX and Helen Stephens of Pleasant Hill, CA. She was preceded in death by her sister, Berna Stelson of Orange, CA.
