Harold was born 1926 in Centralia, Illinois and was raised on a farm in Iuka, Illinois during the depression. He graduated from High School in St. Elmo, Illinois. He married Betty J. Smith before serving in the Navy during WWII. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1949 when he started his career working for C.I.T. Financial Services. His career took him through the ranks while serving in Southern Illinois, New Orleans, Kansas City, New York City, and Louisville, Kentucky. He retired from a position of leadership in 1977. He then started a second career in real estate working for Hardin-Stockton, Coldwell-Banker, and J.D. Reece. Before he retired in 2009, he was the owner/operator of Brubaker Real Estate.
Harold was preceded in death by a son; Michael Brubaker in 1952.
He is survived by his wife; Betty, son; Larry (Vicki) Brubaker of Topeka, daughter; Shari Thomas, grandchildren; Jennifer (Stacy) Smith, Darren Brubaker, Tyler Thomas, Kayla Thomas, Hunter Thomas, and Sterling Smith.
