Harold O. Mallicoat, 94, of Gardner, KS (Formerly of Olathe) passed Mon. Dec. 30, 2019.
Harold was born August 16, 1925 in Peculiar, Missouri to Oscar and May Mallicoat. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and was a Pharmacist 3rd Mate during World War II. After returning from the war in 1946 he married Ruth Hale September 25, 1948 in Olathe, Kansas. Harold was a backhoe operator for the city of Olathe Water Department for 30 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #153 and Fraternal Order of Eagles #700 both in Olathe. Harold was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, Harold and Ruth were Chiefs Red Coaters for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Clarence Mallicoat and sisters , Dorothy Van Daele, Lillian Slusher, and Helen Knoche
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Ruth Mallicoat of the home and their daughter Diana Huggins and her husband C.L. of Olathe, KS , 2 grandchildren Michael L. Newson, Jr and Dustin W. Huggins. He was especially proud of his great granddaughter Bella. He is also survived by his brothers Howard Mallicoat, and Charles Mallicoat as well as many nieces and nephews.
