Harold Alex Lash, 76, of Olathe, went to Heaven on March 19, 2023 after a battle with brain cancer.
He was born on December 15, 1946 to Harold and Sarah (Mason) Lash at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, KS.
On November 26, 1965, he married Ruthailee Linda Guinn. After many moves with the Army and natural gas company, they made their home in Olathe in 1977.
He served our country honorably in the National Guard and the US Army.
Harold worked as a Welder for Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline Co. for his entire career, retiring in 2006. The company changed names many times, however he remained through all of them.
He was a longtime member of Olathe Christian Church with Ruthailee while living in Olathe. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling with Ruthailee to many places, including several cruises to Mexico and Alaska. They also enjoyed camping during the winter in Texas and Florida, spending time with family and friends. Special times to him were camping at the lake with Ruthailee, his daughters, son-in-laws, and grandkids. You would also find his dog, Callie, by his side whenever possible. Nothing would stop him from being at his grandkids' activities multiple times in a week. Another special time for him was Christmas, always claiming that "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" was a song created for him. While taking yearly family trips to Branson, one of his favorite parts was watching the Christmas tree light up at Silver Dollar City. He was amazed by what some might consider the most tiny piece of nature. He noticed it all, but he so loved sunrises, sunsets, every full moon, and animals. He was often heard saying "Man!" or "Awesome!" when overwhelmed by something God created… especially the evening sky. Many nights he was able to enjoy his love of family and nature together by cooking and enjoying time on their patio at home. He captured all his memories by taking more pictures than anyone in his family. He was often looking at them on his phone. Whenever possible he shared those pictures and stories with others.
Harold is survived by his loving wife, Ruthailee; daughters Paula DeGraffenreid (Jeff), Olathe, KS, and Angie Timken (Kevin), Wellsville, KS; eight grandchildren Faith, Isaac, and Grace (DeGraffenreid), and Madison, Abby, Noah, Caleb, and Luke (Timken); and sister Janet Blevins Lawrence, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
