Harley Warner, 85, Overland Park, KS died Monday, February 13th 2017 at Shawnee Mission Hospital.
Dunnie was born April 5th, 1931 in Topeka KS to Ernest and Viola Warner. He graduated from Topeka High School and worked at the Nehi bottling company before joining the United States Marine Corps. Dunnie was assigned to Camp Pendleton Oceanside, CA first, then at Marine Barracks, U.S. Naval Air Station, Point Mugu, CA before heading off to the Korean war where he was in Fox Co. 7th, 2nd Battalion. Dunnie fought bravely for his country and was wounded in action taking the Vegas, Reno Hill on March 30th and was removed to a hospital in Yokosuka, Japan. Dunnie received numerous medals including the Purple Heart. Upon returning he worked as a Sheriff's Deputy, Investigator, promoted to Chief Investigator and then took a position with the Boys Industrial School where he would work until retirement. He had a great love for sports and excelled at all of them, but his favorite in retirement was golf. He spent most of his retired years playing golf and worked as a Marshall at Village Greens Golf Course in Ozawkie, KS.
He married the love of his life, Sherry in 1987. She preceded him in death. His parents and two brothers Norman and Lanier also preceded him in death.
He is survived by two daughters Wendy Wagner of Woodbridge, VA, Robin Warner of Roseland, VA , one son, Todd Warner of Overland Park, KS, three grandchildren, Jack, Leah and Audrey Warner, along with nieces and nephews that loved him and looked to him as the family patriarch.
