Gregory Mark Haskin passed away on September 17, 2013. He was born on July 6, 1950, the third child of Harley and Gerry Haskin. Mark grew up in Olathe and was graduated from Olathe High School in 1968. He was a very talented athlete and lettered in both football and basketball in high school, in addition to playing on the Olathe baseball team in the summer. In college he played intramural sports and also lettered in tennis. As an adult he was an avid runner who participated in many running events. He graduated from Baker University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1972, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, and the chapter Pesident his senior year--his fraternity nickname was "Hasbu." Mark also earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Baker University in 1993, while working full-time. Mark started his career as a claims adjustor for Patrons Insurance Company. He then became a Risk Manager for St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, and finally a Risk Manager for the City of Kansas City, Missouri, where he retired in 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents and by two daughters, Amy and Amanda. He was survived by a daughter, Lauren, a son, Zachary, a sister, Patricia Scarbrough, and a brother, Mike Haskin. He will be remembered by all his friends and family for his sense of humor, his unyielding devotion to his family, his fierce loyalty to friends, and the way he put others before himself. He was always the biggest fan of his children and never missed a single horse show or sporting event they were in. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you hug your child, call a friend you have not talked to in some time, send a card of support to someone in need, and take care of yourself.
