Greg Gill passed away on May 29th, 2020, while kayaking in the Blue River. He was 57 years old. Greg was an incredibly loving and protective father, brother, and son. Greg was a friend to all and willing to give his shirt off his back to anyone he knew. He was born on November 29th, 1962 and grew up in Southern California. Greg spent most of his days surfing at Huntington Beach, sometimes skipping school to catch the waves that were rolling in on any given day.
He then moved to Kansas where he met former wife, Carri Gill. In Kansas, he became a ski instructor at Snow Creek since that was the next best thing to surfing, in his opinion. He started the first Snow Creek Race Team. Greg also took up sailing upon moving to Kansas, he joined the Lake Stockton Yacht Club. Clearly he was determined to keep his life filled with thrills and action, one of his friends described him by saying "Gill lived life at full-throttle" and there's not a better way to describe him. He started his family here in Kansas and lived here for the rest of his life. He had dreams of moving back to the ocean one day, but he couldn't stand the thought of being far away from his family.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Parker and Hannah Gill, his mother Bobbi Lyles, sister Cheryl Vickers, former wife Carri Gill, his dog, Zeus, and many loving family and friends.
